I return to the Dales in this book, though further east than in OLIVIA DOYLE which was set mostly in the Cumbrian Dales in Dent and Sedburgh. This time I am well and truly in the Yorkshire Dales of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale, and the in the world of sheep farming, though closely related to activities in the nearby military base in Catterick.
Most of my books deal with a love unexpectedly discovered, and this is no exception but it is set against a backcloth of revenge against a former Sergeant Major of Special Forces now retired but constantly armed. He had prepared himself for an attack, but was totally unprepared to the arrival of three young ladies who were set to change his life completely.
Who Dares Wins
The entente cordiale between Scotland France comes under scrutiny following the tragic death of the young, beautiful but mysterious Alice, a Frenchwoman newly married to a Scot, Adam. Her husband is appointed as a diplomat in Paris and there becomes aware the secret life of his wife and her involvement in extreme right-wing politics. To help him unravel the truth is Simone, Alice's identical twin sister with whom Adam becomes involved. He desperately needs to find out the truth about a woman Amilene Béthune, who seems to hold the key to what they want to know, only to discover that she has been murdered in Marseille.
But in this novel, nothing is quite what it seems to be and there are awful discoveries to be made before Adam can eventually return to Scotland with a measure of peace.
